Let the Games Begin:
Big Ten men's basketball opens its conference season on Monday evening as Indiana hosts Penn State. at 6:30 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network. The conference is coming off a 2009-10 season in which three teams finished atop the standings, with Michigan State, Ohio State and Purdue all claiming a share of the conference title. The Boilermakers lead all schools with 22 all-time Big Ten titles, while the Hoosiers rank second with 20. The Spartans are looking to become the first team since the Michigan State teams in 1999, 2000 and 2001 to win at least a share of three consecutive conference championships.

Where They Rank:
Six Big Ten teams own spots in the latest Associated Press (AP) and/or ESPN/USA Today Coaches polls, led by Ohio State, ranked second in each. Purdue follows, holding its highest spots since Nov. 22, ranked No. 12 by the AP and No. 11 by the coaches. Minnesota comes in at Nos. 14 and 13, followed by No. 20/19 Michigan State and No. 23/25 Illinois. Wisconsin enters the coaches poll for the first time since Nov. 15, at No. 24, and is receiving votes outside the AP top 25. Northwestern is receiving votes in both polls.

Everyone's A Winner:
Heading into conference play, every Big Ten team owns a record over .500, marking the first time since the 2005-06 season that every conference squad will finish the regular-season non-conference slate with a winning record. Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State and Purdue each have one non-conference matchup remaining, but with respective records of 10-2, 9-1, 12-0 and 11-1, all are guaranteed to have winning non-conference marks.

Top to Bottom:
With all its teams boasting winning percentages of .583 or higher, the Big Ten is the only conference in all of Division I with all its teams owning winning records. Big Ten teams boast a combined 104-27 record, good enough for a .794 winning percentage, which ranks second among the ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-10 and SEC, behind only the Big East's mark of .807.

Fast Starters:
Entering the conference slate at 12-0, Ohio State remains one of only seven undefeated teams in NCAA Division I. Of those squads, only four have 12 or more wins, a group made up of the Buckeyes, San Diego State (14-0), Syracuse (13-0) and Cincinnati (12-0). Ohio State's start is the fourth-best in program history and the best since the Buckeyes won their first 17 to open the 1990-91 season.

Long Range? No Problem:
Michigan set a program-high with 16 made three-pointers in the team's win over Bryant on Thursday. The total is tied for the sixth-highest single-game performance in Big Ten history. It marks the conference's highest total since Northwestern also made 16 against Illinois on Dec. 30, 2009. The Big Ten record of 20 made threes was also set by the Wildcats last season when they made 20 against North Carolina A&T on Dec. 13, 2009.

Make Shots:
Northwestern's John Shurna continues to lead the Big Ten and rank among the NCAA's best in scoring. The junior paces the conference with 23.3 points per game, which ranks eighth in NCAA Division I. Shurna leads the Big Ten with eight games of 20 or more points this season, including performances of 26 and 28 points last week. He has 21 20-point games in his career, which is tied for fourth among active Big Ten players. Penn State's Talor Battle leads all active conference players with 37 career 20-point games, while Purdue's E'Twaun Moore has 24, the Boilermakers' JaJuan Johnson has 23 and Michigan State's Kalin Lucas also has 21.

Give it Up:
Michigan's Darius Morris dished out 12 assists in his team's win over Bryant last week, marking his second 12-assist game this season. Morris also passed 12 against Concordia on Dec. 6, setting a single-game high for the Big Ten this season. The conference has seen six double-digit assist performances so far this year, five of which have been posted by Morris and the other by Illinois' Demetri McCamey. Morris' performance last week marked his fourth points-assists double-double of the year. Morris ranks first in the Big Ten in third in the NCAA with 7.50 assists per game, while McCamey is second in the conference and sixth in the country with 7.08 helpers per contest.

Fantastic Freshman:
Ohio State freshman Jared Sullinger is making his mark as one of the top first-year players in the nation. The Buckeye leads his team and ranks seventh in the conference with 17.5 points per game. The 6-9 center has five double-doubles on the year, which is tied for second in the Big Ten. Sullinger has been tabbed the Big Ten's Freshman or Co-Freshman of the Week six times this season out of seven weeks.

Get to the Point:
Illinois' Demetri McCamey, Michigan State's Kalin Lucas, Penn State's Talor Battle, Purdue's Lewis Jackson and Wisconsin's Jordan Taylor were named candidates for the Bob Cousy Award last week. The honor recognizes college basketball's top point guard. The initial list of 66 will be narrowed down to 20 on Jan. 3.
