The All India Congress Committee observer for Goa, B Hariprasad is arriving in Goa on Sunday to take stock of the political situation in the State in view of NCP?s request to the Chief Minister Digambar Kamat to induct former Tourism Minister Mickky Pacheco in the Cabinet.
Sources said the AICC Observer will have an interaction with the 10-member group of Congress MLAs and Ministers, besides party leaders on the current situation in the State.
Sources in the know said that Hariprasad is unlikely to come up with any solution to end the stalemate over the induction of Pacheco in the Kamat ministry. It is learnt that after the meeting with the Congress leaders, Hariprasad will head to the national capital and will brief the party high command on the prevailing political situation.
Congress leaders view the visit of Hariprasad as significant as it comes against the backdrop of the decision by the 10-member group to topple the Digambar Kamat government in the event Mickky is inducted into the Ministry.
Sources in the 10-member group said they will convey to the AICC general secretary their strong opposition to Mickky?s induction in the Cabinet. They pointed out that they will draw attention of the AICC observer to the statement made by the former tourism minister to field candidates in all the 40 candidates.
The 10-member group led by PWD Minister Churchill Alemao has demanded to maintain status quo by not disturbing the existing arrangement with the coalition partner.
It is learnt that the Congress MLAs within the group has veered round the view that it is better to go for polls instead of disturbing the status quo.
